"Damon King is like the boogeyman of Manhattan. No one I know has met him and yet everyone I know is scared of him. He's the name your mind conjures when you find yourself in a dark alley, or when you're already lost and your vision is obscured by steam from a subway grate. Rumor has it, he's a fixer in the same way the devil is. He might offer to solve your problem, but only at the expense of your soul. Or worse."
This isn't my first rodeo with Tara Leigh. She's got a writing style that absolutely captivates her readers, and one hell of a fiery creative mind. Much like her other books, you never quite know what to expect when you turn the first page, but one thing is always certain - you will not be able to put it down! Anyone familiar with Tara Leigh - be prepared for a turn of events, because if it's even possible, Cruel Sanctuary is even grittier, darker and sexier then anything she's previously written - and that really is saying a lot. Leigh's turned up the heat, and it's absolute FIRE!
I'm not entirely sure why, but from the very beginning, something about Aislinn spoke to me - her mannerism, her ethic, her temperament. I wouldn't necessarily say she reminds me of myself, but something about her really sparked my attention in ways I still find difficult to describe. Perhaps I do notice a little bit of myself through Aislinn's character, and I loved everything about her right from page one. Not your average damsel in distress, but rather you notice right off that bat, she is not the girl to take anyone's shit - no matter who is the one giving it to her.

Damon on the other hand, he's your typical dominant character, but with a bit of a twist. I think it becomes pretty obvious that no matter how bad any bad boy may be, there's always the depiction of a beating heart in that rib cage somewhere - usually brought to light by a woman who manages to to capture it. While Damon King may be the exact definition of alpha-male, it's pretty apparent that in some way, shape or form, Aislinn's got a magnetic styled hold over this man, long before she's ever actually even met him.
Never the less, while King may be emotionally swooning silently over Miss Granville, there is zero deniability in his pure ruthless nature. Its devilishly alluring and just the mental image that Tara's given us through her words is enough to have any woman red-faced at the thought of him appearing before her.
Cruel Sanctuary is book one in Tara's newest series, Wages of Sin, with the second and final book, Corrupt Savior, set to hit shelfs this coming May. Even with only a two month waiting period, it may not actually suffice as a small enough gap between releases the way that we're left off in the first of this duo. Told through the perspective of both Aislinn Granville and Damon King, Leigh gives us an in-depth look into both the minds of these strong willed personas. Having us not only clinging to the words on the page, but the images fluttering through out minds as we read them.

We're first introduced to Aislinn as the political strategist of her father's mayoral campaign - which right from the gecko, you're given a look into how corrupt political standpoints truly can be. Being a politicians daughters with an array of aspirations of her own, Aislinn is torn when she finds out of her fathers crooked dealings which unknowingly have also pinned a large target to her back. Shit abruptly hits the fan and we find our Miss scathed by the corruption and betrayal. A quick fast forward and queue Damon King setting the scale for men everywhere with the most obscured rescue that Aislinn is not only reluctant, but unwilling to accept. Whether she likes it or not, this man is the only person capable of ensuring her safety.
*Um, hello Damon - ready and willing parked right here behind this screen!*
Sparks are flying everywhere. Their tension both obvious and boiling from the very beginning. Not just in the wanting and craving every bit of each other way, but just their banter alone is flawless. Regardless of how badly she would like to dismantle herself from the very apparent existence of their physical, mental and emotional chemistry, the heats already been turned up and Aislinn is completely unable to pry herself away without giving in to everything she wants this man to give her. Hatred turns to dire lust, and ultimately they crumble into each other like two pieces of a puzzle meant to go into one another. Damon King literally makes her blood boil just as much as he makes her heart race.
Lies, sex, secrets, corruption, hidden agendas, scandals, murder... you'll find it all wrapped up in a pretty little bow with this most recent release. It's truly a page turner that you won't be able to let go of until you've mastered every single page.
If anyone needs me, you'll find me impatiently, yet willingly burning in wait within the Devil's Playground for the release of book two..
