What is it about Spring that screams Romance Season! I Really couldn't tell you, but it is an absolute fact that there's nothing I love curling up with more than a good romance novel when Spring starts to unfurl. And I honestly couldn't have started my Spring Romance Marathon better than with Meet Cute and all its epic Rom-Com-ness.

This book gave me exactly what I wanted: a feel-good, second-chance love story filled with banter, tension, and more than a few moments that made me audibly sigh. It was light-hearted without being frivolous, emotional without being heavy—and sometimes, that’s exactly the kind of love story you need.

The story centres around Kailyn and Daxton—two former law school classmates who met in a hilariously awkward fan-girl moment (Kailyn literally faceplants at his feet) and spent their university years in a competitive tug-of-war of academic one-upmanship. The twist? Dax is also a former teen heartthrob whose show was basically Kailyn’s personal comfort binge. Their shared history simmers with unresolved friction, but years later, when tragedy strikes and Dax becomes the guardian of his teenage sister, their paths cross again—and their dynamic gets complicated fast.

What I appreciated most about Meet Cute is that it never tried to be more than what it promised. This wasn’t about reinventing the genre—it was about leaning into everything we love about it. The chemistry between Kailyn and Dax? Immediate. Their back-and-forth? On point. And even though some of the plot developments were predictable (in that cozy, I-see-it-coming-and-I-love-it way), there was enough emotional depth to keep me genuinely invested.

Kailyn was charming and smart, with just the right amount of snark to make her lovable. And Dax? Well, consider my teenage heart sufficiently pandered to. But what surprised me most was how much I enjoyed the storyline involving Dax’s younger sister, Emme. The family dynamics added another layer that grounded the romance and gave the characters more dimension.

Now, full disclosure—this wasn’t a perfect five-star read for me. There were moments that felt a little rushed or leaned too heavily into trope territory (hello, miscommunication plot device, my old frenemy). But none of that detracted enough to ruin the ride. In fact, it added to that hallmark rom-com feel I’d been craving.

So, if you’re in the mood for something sweet, satisfying, and sprinkled with just the right amount of emotional tug, Meet Cute is a solid pick. This one had me smiling, swooning, and remembering exactly why spring and romance novels are a match made in literary heaven.
